๐Ÿ“ƒ๐Ÿค”Are we even on the same page?

Hello my fave!

Didja know that what we notice and perceive is not the exact same thing others notice and perceive? And that the more we are intertwined in our own world the less we realize other people’s POV?

Yea, you know that. But sometimes we forget.

And a great personification and illustration of it, is this darling witchy character that I drew back during Halloween {I think no one ever saw it besides my IG people}

In the caption of that post I wrote:

[art challenge prompt of the day]… This one had : cactus, fringe and cat ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ perfection for a witch trying to disguise herself amongst โ€œregularsโ€ ๐ŸŒต๐Ÿˆ

Now isn’t it funny how we can totally see that she THINKS she is blending in with the “regulars” but the truth is — she hadn’t distanced herself enough from what she’s used to and her witchy ways still comes through. {Too darling if I say so myself ๐Ÿ˜}

And what does it have to do with you and me?

Everything!

Every area of our lives we can trace back to moments and behaviors like this. Where we thought we were being unbiased and a blank slate but our background, and perceptions were influencing our POV.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ And today I want to point out how that specific proximity with our own areas of expertise affects us when we put ourselves out there to create businesses and provide services to community.

If we do not distance ourselves enough from our field we are not able to connect with those actually looking for our expertise in it.

Why?

Because the level of understanding and depth we have in what we do is NOT where our clients are right now. {Yet!} And because of that we need to meet them where they are at this moment.

Giving content that flies above their head and just gets them wide eyed to the point of deer-in-the-red-light starring is not helpful.

They might be dazzled by your wisdom and knowledge and they might still be sticking around but do they feel those things you are talking about are accessible to them?

No.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ That distance that we create when we gloss over where our readers and potential clients are, is THE thing we need to avoid.

๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿ’ป And this is no different when creating our websites.

It is on us to keep this front and center and constantly checking in on it to truly guide people step-by-step on what they need next.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ It is our job to provide the bite size/hand holding experience in our sites — {even thou we are not directly talking to them face to face!}

Sounds tricky, huh? But as you grasp this principle and continue constantly applying it on every corner of your site, you will feel how naturally it is going to come through. And your readers and potential clients will thank you!

In the Website Done course we will be going over all of this in detail {and much much more!} so you have all the tools and understanding you'll need to create a website that speaks to your community AND supports you and your business.
